Beautiful and peaceful place.

The beauty of Mt Hotaka. It is a composite of ice and autumn colors.

Friendly service, sprawling hotel. Onsen is a bit dated. Food is good.

Beautiful. Easy to reach by bus, plenty of little places to eat and shop and hiking trails with amazing views.

An incredible experience at the beginning of May when the snow persists and enhances the hiking trails. A breath of fresh Japanese air.

Even if the weather was terrible, it is still a very beautiful place! Snow monkeys in the morning was the highlight of our trip! Will come again tomorrow!

Nice place for trekking, the view was nice if the weather is clear. Went there by bus from Matsumoto, the earliest one depart 5.20 which is most recommended, takes about 2 hours and cannot be reserved. The place contains 4-5 scenic spots you should visit, took 4km walk. Also served as the gate for Japan Alps hiking.

An absolutely gorgeous retreat from modern world. It's definitely one of my favorite places in Japan.

We were very lucky with autumn weather and it was wonderful. Can't drive directly but park and ride.

Amazing scenery here. The air is fresh and the whole area is clean. Be careful of walking on melted ice cos slippery. There is a stall selling steamed Hida beef bun and another selling apple pie. Must try

Stunning scenery and very empty in winter

The hike here was very scenic and wonderful. I wish we came prepared to camp over night and complete a hike up the mountains. This has the makings of a very special trip if you prepare to hike and camp. The weather is unpredictable in the summer so be prepared for rain and a long hike. Its worth it and there are hotels to stay along the trail to make it easier to make it to the camping grounds.

Beautiful in every weather. It is better to prepare hiking clothes for visiting the park. Taxi is a very convenient way to get into, especially if the number of people is more than three.

There are bus services from Shinshimashima (town that has train access to Matsumoto city) or Norikura-kōgen (small onsen town in-between Matsumoto and Kamikochi). it is recommended to buy a return ticket for the bus (cheaper) and important to get a boarding ticket at the bus terminal of Kamikochi upon arrival.

Walk along the glacial river and experience a part of the Japanese alps

Monkeys, rare wildflowers, one of the best natural sites to visit, my only regret is not staying up there overnight but you can "cheap out" and do a day trip from Matsumoto.

Kamikochi is particularly beautiful during the autumn foliage season, which usually peaks in mid October. A wide range of alpine flora can be viewed from May through October, with the best time being mid May through July. Among the wildlife to be observed are monkeys and various birds. Bears are rarely encountered.

Most beautiful place in Northern Japan Alps during the fall season in October.

I didn't know a place like this could exist on this planet! The whole place is very well maintained (I only found 3 pieces of trash walking around all the trails) the further away you get from the bus station the less people you see so I recommend you to go as early as possible to take photos or just to enjoy the scenery. I highly recommend their campgrounds as well.

What a beautiful place! We came here on a family vacation and it was well worth the trip. I don't know how you can get here as we rent a car and drove from Tokyo with multiple stops along the way. This was a part of our Nagano road trip. I can honestly say that it was one of the best places that we visited. Getting there in a car is rather easy but you'll have to stop at a bus terminal and get shuttled inside of the park. There are multiple stops that you can google and find but the largest one is at the upper most part of the mountain prior to getting into the park itself. The bus ticket costs approximately $10 a person each way. Once inside the park there are various trails that you can walk and hike. There's also a couple of nice restaurants inside of the park for a quick bite. There's also a couple of hotels inside the park if you want to stay overnight but we didn't do that.

Beautiful scenery, a great place for hiking. Weather is unpredictable, changes several times in a day. We were here in June but lucky enough to trek without any rain.

It’s not we’ll known by tourists but is a great nature spot! It’s not common to see mountain, river and trees at the same time but here you’ll see this beautiful picture.

Nice and pleasant place!

This was a nice scenic place to enjoy hiking. Getting here and take a bit so leaving early or using a car to get to the base would be best. From the base you take a bus to the site and then you can do your hike. Great place.

Beautiful place to visit, the Vistas were amazing we walked around the entire day. A bit full of tourists so that's the downside. But very beautiful and very easy to hike and access.

Just love kamikochi. Mountainous and pebble stream. A picturesque postcard.

This place is absolutely stunning. The views are very nice. It is quite a long walk, but it is definitely a good getaway from busy city like Tokyo. Note to all visitors who are driving, the route that we take was to park our car at Akandana, then we take the bus to go to Kamikochi. Kamikochi is closed in the winter and during normal seasons, cars are not allowed in, so you will have to take the bus.

That's why I love Japan. So comfortable to walk here. It's amazing that people say "Hi (in japanese)" everywhere. Very clean air and nice green. I can see Mandarin duck here, lucky. I hope to back here again.

A place worth visiting at least once in your lifetime. This place is so amazing. It is a perfect destination for nature lovers and mountaineers. I would surely love to visit this place again someday given the chance. Probably around autumn where the leaves gives out a reddish hue. Regardless, any season would be a best time to visit this place.
